About Me

I started programming at just 10 years old in an elementary school computer class, and I've been hooked ever since. The idea that I could create entire experiences with just a keyboard sparked a lifelong love for software development. Growing up in a rural town in south Georgia, I used YouTube tutorials and a shaky internet connection to teach myself how to build websites, games, and basic apps.

In 8th grade, I moved to Coffee County, where I finally had access to formal computer science education. I took CS classes in 8th and 9th grade that taught me proper web development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Throughout the rest of high school, I shifted focus to engineering classes, drawn to the hands-on nature of building and experimenting. My incredible engineering teacher encouraged me to incorporate computer science into my projects using microcontrollers and online portfolios. It was in these classes that I developed what I consider my most valuable skill: problem solving.

I also joined both the TSA and VEX Robotics teams, competing in video game design contests and building robots to face off in national competitions. I reached the state finals three years in a row, and in my senior year, our team advanced to the World Championship, where I served as the lead programmer. I also served as a Robotics Captain, reporter, vice president, and TSA President during my time in the organization.

Education

I am currently a Senior pursuing my Bachelor's in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where I specialize in full-stack development and user-centered design.

My coursework includes:

Objects and Design – Learned industry-standard UI/UX practices and developed team-based mobile applications such as a class calendar and personalized Spotify Wrapped app using APIs and Agile methodologies.

Systems and Architecture – Gained insight into how computers operate at a physical level, working with low-level programming languages and understanding how high-level code compiles into machine instructions.

Data Structures & Algorithms – Explored efficient methods of storing, organizing, and retrieving data, with emphasis on complexity analysis and problem-solving strategies.


I also completed a two-semester Junior Design Capstone Project in collaboration with an M.D. at Emory University Hospital, where our team planned, prototyped, and developed a medication information and dosage conversion website. The project aimed to integrate fragmented tools into a single, intuitive platform to help healthcare professionals make faster and safer clinical decisions.

These experiences have strengthened not only my technical skills, but also my ability to work across disciplines, communicate with clients, and iterate quickly on feedback.

Experience

During the summers following high school, I interned with the IT department of an airfoils manufacturing plant. There, I developed custom user interfaces and server-side applications to track daily production data and improve workflow efficiency. I returned the following year to refine internal tools, resolve longstanding UI/UX issues, and collaborate with engineers to deliver solutions used on the production floor.


I also designed and developed this personal website from scratch to showcase my skills and experience. It was built using HTML, Tailwind CSS, and JavaScript, and demonstrates my attention to responsive design, interactive UI, and clean code structure. This site serves as both a portfolio and a live example of my frontend development abilities.
